Region 6 Student Zone

The Region VI website includes a Student Zone where students in the region can talk to each other, post their resume, and get a mentor. It's also a great place for employers to look for talented HVAC engineers.  

 

Technology Awards

The Madison ASHRAE Chapter is now accepting submissions for Technology Awards for this year's National competition. If you have an innovative project and would like to submit it, please review the attached information.  Local submissions are due by March 15, 2010. Please use either the short form or the long form attached here for submitting your project. Additional information can be found in the documents below:

TOPIC:  Construction Liabilities   

 

Risk identification and management have always been critical to success in the construction industry. Managing potential liabilities is even more critical in this difficult economic climate, in which competition is fiercer, profit margins are thinner, and owners perceive that they have greater leverage.

 

SPEAKER: Carl Sinderbrand, Axley Brynelson, LLP

 

Carl Sinderbrand, an environmental and construction lawyer with over 30 years experience. He will discuss predominant sources of liability for both design and construction activities, including breach of contract, negligence and statutory liabilities. Mr. Sinderbrand will also discuss tools for managing and allocating those risks, including important contract language, insurance, documentation, and contract administration.

TECHNICAL SESSION:  Humidity and enthalpy sensor accuracy and their impact on economizer performance.

 

Steve Taylor will present this technical session topic, which he presented at the ASHRAE meeting in Orlando in January. Steve will include recently completed research on humidity sensor accuracy and drift over time, enthalpy sensor and switch accuracy, and the impact of the sensor error on economizer energy savings. The results are interesting and likely will result in controversial conclusions.

 

 

The cost for the meeting is $20 for members and $30 for non-members, which includes dinner and presentation. The meeting fee will be paid at the door. Please make checks payable to Madison ASHRAE Chapter
